Doing business, whether on the internet or on the street, is based on how people perceive you and what they know about you. It’s about how they feel about you as a business person. “Is this someone I want to do business with?”, they’ll ask. In other words, they want to know your reputation.
It was simpler when business was conducted within a small geographical area. I know most all of the business people in my little town. I do business with them person to person. I know the reputation of the business people in the towns and cities in my near geographical area. I can visit their locations and meet with their people. I know their reputation. I either trust them and give them my business or I don’t trust them and leave them alone.
How do I know if I can trust YOU?
How you know you can trust ME!
Marketing is Networking. Networking is based on contact with people, lots of people. Working with potential customers and partners depends on your reputation. So how do we do this when we’re not doing business face to face? There wasn’t a way until iKarma.com came along. Unlike LinkedIn and other similar networking sites, iKarma is about building a reputation on the web. A place where prospective clients and partners can go an make a decision to do business with you. I’m trying to build one. Remember that I asked how you know that you can trust me…
Here’s how you know you can trust ME!
I put my reputation out on the web. I place myself where people who have done business with me can post a review of my business practices with them. No matter what, I am there for all to see. Click on the image below and check me out.

Here’s a link to the iKarma tour presentation on their web site. If for no reason than to be informed, you should take the tour. Here’s where you can go to join iKarma. If you’re serious about having a presence on the web, then you should join up. Just so you’ll know, I don’t and won’t make anything if you join up. I don’t even take site donations.
So to roll this up, let me say that we all have the need to know with whom we’re doing business. We all want to “feel good” about our JVs or Partnerships. We all should have a reputation to protect. Why don’t we see more of our favorite “gurus” putting their reputation up for all to see? Maybe they will. Maybe this will catch on. I only hope so.
What kind of link exchange do you have in mind?
